ICE Deputy Director Tom Homan’s Statement on Verdict in Steinle Case

“San Francisco’s policy of refusing to honor ICE detainers is a blatant threat to public safety and undermines the rule of law. This tragedy could have been prevented if San Francisco had simply turned the alien over to ICE, as we requested, instead of releasing him back onto the streets. It is unconscionable that politicians across this country continue to endanger the lives of Americans with sanctuary policies while ignoring the harm inflicted on their constituents. Following the conclusion of this case, ICE will work to take custody of Mr. Garcia Zarate and ultimately remove him from the country.”

Personal statement to me tonight by a retired ICE friend here in California via email:

Illegal alien in possession of a firearm is a federal and separate offense (from felon in possession of a firearm which he was convicted of).  5 Year penalty.  Re-entry after deportation of an aggravated felony is a more serious offense with a maximum sentence of 20 years.  There is no parole for federal sentences.  They can run consecutively.  Much lower burden of proof v. Murder.  All AG has to do is direct the SF US Attorney to prosecute.”

My comment:  We demand that the US Attorney to bring these charges against Garcia-Zarate immediately!  This career criminal alien must pay for all of his horrible crimes!  He needs to be locked up so he can never harm anyone else again!
